DisplayPort certainly gained tremendous amount of limelight these days, and generally, the creator of the technology has upgraded the technology to its latest version, namely the DisplayPort v1.2. And based on my understanding, it seems that the DisplayPort v1.2 is the official standards now, and this particular technology gives you better data throughput, namely from 10.8Gbps to 21.6Gbps of bandwidth.
On the other hand, the latest version can support multiple displays, via a single output cable, which makes it a really great technology. Also, it seems that the DisplayPort v1.2 will allow you to support up to 4x 1920x1200 monitors, which is pretty impressive.
