Personally, I believe that e-ink started off the wrong foot with their revolutionary displays, as most of the devices that come equipped with e-ink display technology is dead expensive. Nevertheless, it also seems that e-ink is pretty determined with their display technology, whereby the company has already showcased their next-gen display units to the media.
Apparently, the next-gen display will boasts benefits such as higher contrasts, faster refresh rates, and it will also be very rugged as well. Generally, the latest display technology will have approximately 12:1 contrast ratio, and ample of refresh rates which can give viewers simple animations.
E-ink also disclosed that this particular technology might enter mass production something later this year, or perhaps early next year. There goes another explicit range of expensive e-ink devices to be introduced next year – you can count me out in purchasing this rather ‘arcane’ monochrome display technology.
