It’s always fascinating to know whenever Adobe decides to upgrade their predominant Flash and AIR platforms, and apparently, the company did upgrade the platforms respectively, in which the Flash would be succeeded to version 11, while the much touted AIR will reach version 3. Generally, the upgrade is designed to deliver a host of new features, which consist of 2D and 3D graphics hardware acceleration – at least for desktops, at the moment. On the other hand, Stage 3D support will be gradually added to mobile variants, namely for the Android, BlackBerry, and also iOS, at a much later date.
Apparently, AIR 3 will gain connectivity to entertainment devices, such as the Samsung SmartTV, and it also comes with the ability to deliver Flash-based games to your home theater system. Also, Adobe has added Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound support too, which allows you to connect your 5.1 and 7.1 sound system to your AIR app. Talk about a bucket load of goodies from Adobe – keep up the good work!
