For those who have been to Melbourne, I’m pretty sure that you are well accustomed to the iconic Observation Wheel which provides tourist a breath-taking view of the entire city. Well, I’m also very sure that the Southern Star Observation Wheel has been decommissioned due to extensive damages to the wheel. And for the people who operate the wheel, they aren’t bothered to repair the wheel, as the costs to repair the damages are so exorbitant, they are letting the wheel go, rather than spending the money to repair it.
Nevertheless, it seems that the wheel does not need to be decommissioned, as designer Büro North has thought up of an idea to convert the when into a green energy making machine. Of course, since this wheel is humongous, he’s thinking of converting it into a wind-driven energy generation machine, whereby it will harness 2 energy sources, namely wind and solar energy.
