Rex, The Robotic Exoskeleton PDF Print E-mail

We’ve seen plenty of exoskeletons being developed by various universities around the world, namely in the United States and in Japan. Nevertheless, it also seems that a group of researchers from New Zealand have also developed their version of a robotic exoskeleton, whereby this particular robotics technology is aimed at helping wheel-chair bound people to get up and walk on their two feet, with the aid of the exoskeleton that is.

Dubbed as Tex, this particular exoskeleton can support the full weight of a person, and it also allows the wearer to move in a bipedal fashion. On the other hand, Rex comes with a joystick and control pad that is simple enough for the user to control the exoskeleton. And you’d be delighted to know that Rex will be available for sale in New Zealand at the end of this year.

The bad news is that prospective buyers will need to fork out a whopping $150,000 in order to purchase one of these exoskeletons.
