One of the biggest acquisitions that took place this quarter of the year, is Yahoo has acquired Tumblr, in one of their largest expansion plans this year. According to an insider’s source, it looks like Yahoo will be shelling out $1.1 billion in the Tumblr acquisition. Although $1.1 billion looks like a huge sum of money, Yahoo has cash in their coffers, estimated at $5 billion.
Of course, the acquisition news didn’t go down well in the blogosphere, whereby when the acquisition news hit the streets, over 72,000 Tumblr users have migrated out to Wordpress – that’s 400 to 600 user accounts per hour! Apparently, users are put off by Yahoo’s track record in shutting down their acquisitions, namely, Delicious, Geocities, and even Broadcast.com.

A good friend of mine told me that he’s shopping for a good sound system for his company. Apparently, his company would be using this sound system in their road shows. Judging by the fact that I have excellent knowledge in the respective field, I told my friend that he should seriously take a closer look at the good fender passport 500. Generally, the respective sound system packs a punch, and it supports up to 6 microphones simultaneously. Also, the respective sound system offers extraordinary CD-quality WAV and MP3 playback, and you can even playback your music through a USB flash drive too. But best of all, the Fender Passport 500 is priced very affordably, which makes it ideal for my friend’s company budget. |

The European Commission is famous for their antitrust stint, in which countless of Fortune 500 companies have been sued by the EC for breaching various antitrust rules. Take Microsoft for example – they paid dearly for their Internet Explorer browser binge, and they even lose millions when it comes with their infamous Windows series.
Well, it looks like the EC now has their eyes on Motorola, whereby the EC is affirmative that Motorola broke their antitrust rules, as they have abused its patent position. The dispute came about when Motorola said that they would license their GPRS-related SEPs, and this particular case was related to Apple, which Apple mentioned that they are more than happy to pay a licensing fee for that particular technology. However, Motorola took another step further, whereby they seek an injunction against Apple on this particular case, and this caught the EC’s attention, which mentioned that Motorola has abused their patent position in this particular case.

Well, if you are a huge fan of the Nissan Leaf, I’m pretty sure you’d be delighted to know that the next-generation Nissan Leaf will be making headway to the UK market. It looks like the latest EV would be making their rounds in the UK, and there’s something new too – with customers can now lease the battery with the battery leasing option.
Dubbed as the Flex models, the cars can be bought at the price of £15,990 (about $24,000), and the respective price comes with a leased battery. Generally, the government grant scheme has already knocked a whopping £5,000 ($7,700) off the price, which makes it extremely attractive indeed. On the other hand, you’ll need to pay £70 ($108) and upwards a month to rent the battery depending on the contract and mileage.

Do you know that electric guitars would require a special pedal called the distortion pedal to enable it to switch its electric guitar tone? Basically, if you have been to a concert, you’d noticed that some of the guitarists would stomp on a pedal-like device on the floor, and instantaneously, the electric guitar sound would change tone. To tell you the truth, I have a sizable collection of guitar pedals for my electric guitars at home, and I’m currently shopping for a digitech at guitar center. To my knowledge, Digitech has one of the most complete guitar pedal selections in the market, and they are also one of the mainstream guitar pedal manufacturers in the market too. |

And it looks like Dish Network is extremely keen in acquiring Sprint. According to the latest info, Dish Network will be dishing out a whopping $25.5 billion in their acquisition bid for Sprint. Dish previously got knocked back when they wanted to buy Clearwire, which Sprint got the lead, and if you can’t get what you want – just buy over the company that bought Clearwire – clever right?
