Tesla Sues Top Gear for Libel

Apparently, Tesla is hauling Top Gear to court for an apparent libel suit. According to Tesla, the company found that Top Gear’s 2008 episode which reviews the Tesla Roadster to be somewhat discriminatory, whereby Jeremy Clarkson was seen flogging around the track while testing the Tesla Roaster, and complaining the range of the Tesla which is equivalent to a measly 55 miles. And at the end of the review, he was seen pushing the car into the garage, supposedly showing that the car ran out of charge.

Tesla countered by saying that the limited range of the Tesla Roadster to be preposterous, and that the entire out-of-charge ordeal was staged by Top Gear, as clearly, the car that was provided was ready and willing. Surely, Tesla is suing Top Gear and BBC for libel and malicious falsehood, and it took them 2 years to pursue the lawsuit. Personally, I’ve seen many top gear episodes, and I do think that the three middle-aged men are sometimes full of crap when reviewing cars.
